THE LECCO POWERHOUSE

Giulio Fiocchi founded Fiocchi Munizioni in Lecco, Italy in 1876. Located on the picturesque shores of Lake Como, the original site remains the company's global headquarters today. Fiocchi's primary differentiator in the competitive ammunition market is true end-to-end vertical integration.

In an industry where many "manufacturers" are actually assemblers sourcing components from across the globe, Fiocchi produces every single component—brass cases, primers, projectiles, and propellants—within the same facility. This allows for a level of quality control and component synergy that creates exceptionally consistent ballistics.

The company remains family-controlled and exports to over 60 countries, maintaining a reputation for "La Qualità è Tutto" (Quality is Everything).

FIOCCHI IN SOUTH AFRICA

In South Africa, Fiocchi is highly respected for its range-grade FMJ, which often performs at a higher tier than budget Eastern European or local reloads.

However, Fiocchi is most famous among the South African specialist community for their 158gr Subsonic FMJ. As the heaviest subsonic 9mm in the SA catalog, it is the gold standard for shooters running suppressors (silencers), offering a significantly quieter reports than standard 147gr alternatives.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is Fiocchi 158gr better for suppressors?

The 158gr projectile is heavier, meaning it achieves subsonic velocities at lower pressures and remains well below the speed of sound, eliminating the "sonic crack" and making it exceptionally quiet when used with a silencer.

Is Fiocchi ammo corrosive?

No. All modern Fiocchi ammunition uses non-corrosive primers and clean-burning powders.

Where is Fiocchi made?

Standard Fiocchi rounds are made in Lecco, Italy. They also maintain a manufacturing facility in Ozark, Missouri for the North American market.
